The Borno state Governor, Babagana Zulum’s convoy came under a Boko Haram attack on Sunday September 27, barely 48 hours after his convoy was attacked by insurgents on Friday September 25.

In less than 48 hours after an initial attack, Boko Haram insurgents have again reportedly ambushed Governor Babagana Zulum again

Multiple reports say the attack happened on Sunday, September 27, along the Monguno-Maiduguri axis of the state.

The attack occurred while the convoy of the governor was reportedly returning from Monguno, about 80km drive from Maiduguri, the capital of the state.

The attack on Sunday occurred along Baga-Kukawa axis of Borno and it was gathered that troops of the Nigerian air force were mobilised immediately to the scene of the incident and were able to foil the insurgents’ attack.
The report quoted journalists in the convoy as saying that tyres of some of the vehicles were affected by gunshots.

Other reports added that the windscreen of some of the vehicles in the convoy were shattered.

One of the vehicles affected was the one conveying the journalists, it was reportedly learnt.

It was further reported that no life was lost in the attack.

Babagana Zulum escaped death after his convoy was ambushed on Friday, September 25, by Jihadist insurgents loyal to the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) group.

The military, in reaction to the Friday, September 25, attack on Zulum, claimed that 18 and not 30 persons died in the ambush.

This was disclosed in a statement by coordinator Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche.

According to him, only 10 policemen, four soldiers and four civilians were killed in the ambush at Barwati village.

He said the victims were killed by an explosion from the multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted on the road

The attack led to the shooting of a back tyre of the vehicle/bus conveying Journalists attached to the governor, but the driver manuveared and drove the vehicle on the flat wheel to escape the scene.

One of the soldiers attached to the convoy reportedly sustained injuries during the attack and have been rushed to the hospital.

Is either this governor is just stubborn or he don’t care about the waste of the lives of his aids.there has been strong deadly campaign against him lately to even take his life or capture him, instead of constant risking the lives of his aid.let him seat back and restragetize because he should know they are very close to him…
