The Arewa Youth Consultative Council (AYCC) has requested that the Federal Government block sexual and immorally-related sites from the Nigerian cyberspace.

Few days back, the Arewa group begs FG to ban porn and dating sites from Nigeria’s cyberspace completely. That individuals or companies that refuses to comply with the ban should be fined.

In Their Statement, They wrote,

“We resolved to write to you as concerned citizens to call on your quick intervention in blocking sexual and immorality related sites in the Nigerian cyberspace to sanitise the reckless behaviour and continuous immoral engagements among youths for sustainable development and progress of our societies”.

According to the group, this request is the youths progressive effort to building the nation.

In a statement signed by the group’s spokesperson, Muhammad Ibrahim, on Friday, August 14, 2020, AYCC said it is concerned by the exposure of Nigerian youths to ‘sexual contamination’.

The group said the exposure of Nigerian youths to sexual content is fueling a culture of indecency, immorality and increasing cases of sexual misbehaviour.
Arewa youth in a two-page letter addressed to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, called on the government to quickly intervene in blocking immoral and sexual sites.

In Richard Idasenibos’ opinion, he has this to say,

To me personally, I see this as a misplaced priority. The AREWA GROUP should stop using the internet instead. Porn Sites cannot be banned because of few individuals that thinks they have a say over everything and everyone in the country.

Nigeria has no national laws prohibiting pornography, although the public display of graphic sexual material is illegal in Lagos.

They overlooked the bad government and the reckless leadership of incompetent Buhari, to tackle things that doesn’t matter.

The internet cannot be Regulated in this present world. There must be a way to break in.

Ban porn and dating sites off the Nigerian cyber space today and people will start using VPN to surf the web. And nobody can control that, not even the government. You don’t have the right to anybody’s phone or computer to know what they’re doing.

So I see the AREWA GROUP request as a misplaced priority and usual social media rants.

Banning Of Porn Sites In Nigeria By The Federal Government As Requested By The Arewa Group Won’t Work! Pornographic videos are adult content rated 18.

So the so called AREWA GROUP should channel their energy to the bad Buhari government and some other necessary things that need to be addressed in the country. I drop pen here.✍️

What’s your opinion??

  1. I personally take this as a group agitation and not a problem of the federal government as purpoted in the headline, however, it is important that the concerned ministry look into and take necessary steps, because some Nigerians has taken advantage of this dating sites and turned it into a cyber crime arena, and this has given Nigeria a bad image within the international community.

  2. The exposure of Nigerian youths to sexual content is fueling a culture of indecency, immorality and increasing cases of sexual misbehavior… Abeg if they want to close it they should.

  3. It is what it is….this porn stuff is getting out of hands, but some people do that just to earn a living. A lot of our youths are unemployed…Government should consider our youths especially our graduates!

  4. To me I believe that if these actions will be taken then it will really help this country in terms of sexual immorality and cyber crime. Most time what causes rape are all this porn our youth engage themselves in most of the time.
